Sika Flooring — The Full Brand Profile

Sika industrial flooring installation

Sika is the IL flooring default. Swiss construction-chemicals giant since 1910, with the largest IL exclusive-distributor relationship of any flooring brand (Gilar Ltd), the deepest technical-sales infrastructure, and the most comprehensive product range covering every floor specification from residential PU comfort floor to heavy industrial PU-cement at the top tier. This profile walks Sika's full flooring portfolio — what each line is, where each one fits, and why Sika dominates IL public-tender and commercial specification work.

The five flooring lines

Sikafloor PurCem (PU-cement)

The heavy-industrial flagship. HM-20 is the reference 6–9 mm trowelled PU-cement screed; HB-22 a lower-build variant; 20/29/31 PurCem LP a low-profile lighter-duty range. Steam-cleanable to 95°C at 9 mm, R11–R13 with broadcast, HACCP food-safe. Direct competitor to Ucrete UD200 and Flowfresh HF at the top of industrial PU-cement spec. See the full PurCem vs Ucrete vs Flowfresh comparison.

Where it wins: Channel safety (Gilar exclusive), warranty enforcement infrastructure, deepest IL applicator network. Where it loses: 20–40% premium vs Mapefloor CPU/HD at equivalent spec; no engineered antimicrobial at parity to Bioblock/Polygiene.

Sikafloor-263 SL (epoxy SL)

The reference 2–3 mm self-levelling epoxy. 100%-solids, two-component (resin A + amine hardener B), cures 24–48 h to walking traffic. The IL default for general industrial, light commercial, warehouse, retail back-of-house, and any project where epoxy SL is the right system class (see epoxy SL vs PU-cement vs MMA). Pigment range covers RAL custom + Sika standard palette.

Companion products: Sikafloor-264 (slightly different formulation, regional), Sikafloor-269 W (water-based for low-VOC requirements), Sikafloor-264 HC (high-chemical variant). The 263 SL is the workhorse; the others are situational alternatives.

Sikafloor Comfortfloor (residential / hospitality PU)

Self-smoothing PU on elastic membrane, 2.5–3.0 mm typical. PS-23 standard residential variant; PS-66 adds sound-insulation elastic layer (~14 dB ΔLw reduction for apartment-over-apartment work); Marble FX decorative multi-colour PU. Wide pigment range — 72 standard colours plus full RAL Classic and NCS 1950. Used in apartments, hotels, retail, light commercial. Wet-room capable with the right sealer; not load-rated for industrial floors. Comfortfloor brand page.

Cost ₪/m² IL [verify]: PS-23 ₪320–₪520; PS-66 +₪80–₪120 for the sound layer.

Sikafloor DecoDur / MicroTop (decorative)

Sika's decorative-concrete line. DecoDur ES-26 Flake — epoxy with vinyl flake broadcast, 2–3 mm, gritted high-gloss finish, used in commercial back-of-house and design-led industrial. Sika MicroTop / DecoDur Cement — thin decorative microcement-style cement-polymer in the 2–3 mm decorative tier; precise SKU naming varies by region (see microcement binder chemistry for the Sika-470-vs-decorative-microcement clarification). For modern thin decorative spec, Sika is one of the seven brands in our microcement 7-way comparison.

Sikafloor-403 / 404 (MMA fast-cure)

Methyl methacrylate fast-cure systems for retrofit and tight-shutdown environments. Cure to foot traffic in 1–2 hours, full chemical resistance in 24 hours. Strong odour during install — ventilation critical. Used where production downtime cost dominates. See resin family comparison for the MMA position.

Adjacent product families

Sika's flooring portfolio extends beyond the five core lines:

  • Sikadur — structural adhesives and crack injection products. Used in concrete repair before coating. See substrate repair guide.
  • SikaTop / SikaGrout — repair mortars and grouting compounds for substrate preparation.
  • SikaFix — flexible PU crack injection for active cracks.
  • EpoCem — epoxy-cement hybrid barrier coating, used in moisture-mitigation and chloride-barrier work. See coastal chloride prep.
  • Sika FerroGard — migrating corrosion inhibitor for chloride-contaminated rebar.
  • Sikalastic — liquid PU waterproofing membrane (used as tanking under microcement).
  • Sikaflex — joint sealants. Used at every structural joint that continues through the finish.

Why Sika dominates IL flooring

Three structural reasons:

  1. Gilar exclusive distribution. Decades of relationship, Hebrew documentation prepared for tender, technical sales engineers visiting projects, applicator training infrastructure. No competitor brand has equivalent channel depth in IL.
  2. Warranty enforcement infrastructure. When a coating delaminates two years in, Sika has the legal-team capacity to investigate, validate documentation, and either pay or defend. Mapei IL and MBS (post-acquisition) are functional but less storied at this level.
  3. Product breadth. Sika is the only brand where a single specifier can cover every floor specification on a project from residential bathroom (Comfortfloor) through commercial epoxy SL (263) through heavy industrial PU-cement (PurCem) under one TDS family. For multi-zone projects this single-vendor simplicity is real value.

The Sika premium — when it's worth it, when it's not

Worth it when:

  • IL public-sector tender requires the largest applicator network
  • Warranty enforcement infrastructure matters (high-stakes liability project)
  • Multi-zone project benefits from single-vendor specification
  • Hebrew technical documentation simplifies tender submission
  • Project schedule is tight and Gilar's stock depth saves delivery time

Not worth it when:

  • Budget cap pushes 20–40% below Sika line items — Mapefloor or Master Builders close at lower cost
  • Antimicrobial is required — Sika has no Bioblock/Polygiene equivalent; Mapei wins
  • Thermal extreme exceeds PurCem envelope — Ucrete UD200 owns this corner
  • Italian-origin design language is required — Mapei or Ideal Work fits better
  • Sustainability-spec is dominant — Senso bioresin or other C2C brands contribute positively on credit lines that Sika does not

The post-MBCC landscape

Sika acquired MBCC Group in 2023, bringing Master Builders Solutions and Ucrete under the corporate umbrella. The post-deal IL channel is still settling — some Ucrete spec lands through Sika's Gilar channel, some through residual MBS importers. For specifiers writing a 2026 tender, name the SKU explicitly (Ucrete UD200 not just "Master Builders PU-cement") and confirm channel routing in writing before order placement. The cross-sell risk from Sika's channel pushing PurCem over Ucrete is real — close the tender language to prevent silent substitution.

Final read

Sika is the IL default for industrial, commercial, hospitality, and any project where channel depth + warranty enforcement + product breadth outweigh the 20–40% line-item premium over Mapei or Master Builders. Specify Sika when the project benefits from these. Specify alternatives when the differentiator (antimicrobial, thermal extreme, Italian origin, sustainability) doesn't sit in Sika's range. The Sika premium is real; the Sika defaults are reasonable. Use them deliberately, not reflexively.
